Larry Wallis met Mick Farren & Steve Took, both leading 'Underground Figures' at the time. After seeing him perform at the ' Speakeasy' with the 'The Entire Sioux Nation' a line-up of 'Shagrat' which included Mick Farren was formed. This was shortlived after a disagreement between Tookie & Mick where Mick gave the other two members of the band, Larry & Tim Taylor the choice "Are you coming with him or me?" Larry and Tim replied, "Steve Took." For some time there was little contact between Larry and Mick although Larry would go to the IT offices where Mick was editor. However in 1972 Larry got a phonecall from Mick --the mentor of the Pink Fairies. "We (Mick and Deviant Russell Hunter) want you to join the Pink Fairies." For the 'Kings of Oblivion' Pink Fairies album "When's the Fun Begin" was co-written by Larry Wallis and Mick Farren using a Wallis chord sequence and Farren Lyrics.

NIGEL CROSS: How did the Deviants' SCREWED UP come about?
LARRY WALLIS: Once again, that was Dave and Jake just deciding to do a record. So we went into Pathways with Paul Rudolph and me on guitars, Alan Powell - who used to play with Hawkwind - on drums, Andy Cahoon on bass, and Mick Farren. Mickey and me and Rudolph wrote a few new songs and we did a new version of "Let's Loot the Supermarket". For me, the Deviants were Mick Farren and he still is The Deviant.
NIGEL CROSS: Was it then that the seeds were sown for doing Mick's VAMPIRES [STOLE MY LUNCH MONEY] album?
LARRY WALLIS: Yeah, I think so. Mick considered Logo Records to be a bunch of young assholes with a bunch of money to spend. Which we did.
NIGEL CROSS: Where did the title come from?
LARRY WALLIS: Mick, I think, took it from Linus in "Peanuts". I wanted to call it "Without Annette". Then, after a while we had to do the "Broken Statues" single, so we went into my father's studio to do that and I had a nervous breakdown about halfway through. I ripped the phone out my wall, smashed it to pieces and didn't leave my flat for three weeks. They all just had to do the best they could.
